2008 Giro d’Italia stage 17: Greipel wins

Is Mark Cavendish so good that he’s already gifting sprints?
In the manner that High Road teammate André Greipel sprinted to victory ahead of Cavendish and Daniele Bennati (Liquigas) ─ when Cavendish looked back to Bennati at least three times to check that the Italian wasn’t pulling through ─ it would seem so.
No way, says Greipel. The burly, 26-year-old bristled at the suggestion that the biggest victory of his professional career was handed to him by his younger teammate.
“I think he tried to pass me,” said an annoyed Greipel when pressed about Cavendish. “If you want to think it is like this, that’s fine with me. I know I am fast. If you’re a sprinter, you want to pass and win races.”

2008 Giro d’Italia stage 17: Contador still in pink

Alberto Contador (Astana) retained the maglia rosa to stay 41 seconds ahead of Riccardo Riccò (Saunier Duval-Scott) as the GC riders stepped aside for the sprinter’s last dance in Wednesday’s 146km, 17th from Sondrio to Locarno.
High Road raced superbly to close down a breakaway and drive home the peloton in the final kilometers to set up the sprint, just the sixth in this year’s difficult Giro.
The U.S.-registered team is challenging the peloton’s established trains with their own formidable line-up.
The squad’s improving effectiveness was in full display on the fast run into Locarno, with Brad Wiggins and Tony Martin leading Greipel and Cavendish through two 90-degree turns in the final 500 meters.
As Martin barreled into the final turn with 250 meters to go, Greipel was in what looked like the lead-out position for Cavendish.
But the big German – who won four stages and the overall at the Tour Down Under – just put his head down and hammered all the way to the line. Greipel said there wasn’t a plan to let him win the stage.

Trigger Point Technologies fighting Cerebral Palsy in Australia

27 05 2008

By far the most inspirational part of my trip to Australia so far is working with Alan Howard. Alan is a guy that suffers from Cerebral Palsy and isn’t willing to let it stop him from being his personal best. Commando Steve, from CrossFit FX and one of the trainers from Biggest Looser in Australia, put me in touch with him wondering if there was any application for our products and the muscular dysfunction Alan has to battle on a regular basis.

Of course after Steve told me about Alan and what his athletic desires were I said I had to meet him. Alan is an inspiration to us all, he has drive focus and determination. He say’s yes when others say no. This allowed me to do what I do, after looking at his patterns of movement I pulled out the TPT tools and went to work.

It was my objective to give him a little more range of motion when it came to walking, squatting, strict presses and pull-ups. These are some of the core moves for Crossfit training. Of course these moves are challenged due to Alan’s lack of elasticity within the muscle.

I first worked on his soleus with the Footballer then used the TP Ball for some more specific work. I rolled through his calf and peronials. His peronials were basically solid mass, due to the prolonged period of lack of movement…….long of the short he moved his foot!!!!

Now we’re not talking about a lot. We are talking a very little a millimeter or so, this was amazing for Alan. You could see when he walked that he loaded the ball of his foot, you could also see that when he went down into a squat his heel stayed on the ground the entire time. This was such a huge accomplishment and ego boost for Alan.

This pumped us all up, so we continued on our quest addressing his limitations when it came to over strict presses and Pull-ups.

I worked through his lats, extensors and flexors of the forearm, Pec major and minor, and his triceps. The results blew all of our minds.

Alan went from being able to do 2-3 pull ups at once, to doing 6 right in front of our eyes. He said he couldn’t believe the strength and power he felt during each pull up. It was something he couldn’t describe!! Wow!!

Alan then did several strict presses with a 10k bar, the first onesbefore working on him, he had assistance from his CrossFit trainer Steve.

After I worked on him, he needed very little assistance and had an incredible amount of positive change in his biomechanics. Alan said that this was once of the most amazing days of his life, this gave him confidence and strength to truly do things others would say isn’t possible. What an awesome day!!!

The pictures speak for themselves. I am going to post some video so you can see the difference and hear what he has to say. I couldn’t wait to get this up on our blog so you have to settle for pictures now. How amazing, how inspirational . It’s amazing what our products and methodologies can do and it’s amazing how strong people can be.

Thanks Alan keep it up!!!

Re-Gen in Australia

Re-Gen Australia Trigger Point Technologies

We had 20 + people show up for our first Re-Gen workshop here in Sydney. It was great and everyone loved the New Video’s we have for Knee Pain and Hip Dysfunction. The greatest part of the night was a guy that had two awesome scars down both of his quads due to an illness as a child. The scars were huge, and there was an incredible amount of scar tissue associated. He said that for the first time in his life he’s been able to touch his heel to his butt when stretching his quads he gives all the credit to his regular use of the Quadballer. Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of him but I do have a few from the beginning of class.

The workshop ran late of course, just over two hours but the products didn’t fail. Everyone was very impressed and look forward to the regular Re-Gen classes Kristian is going to hold here in Sydney.

Trigger Point U6 Classes in Australia

26 05 2008

The first Trigger Point U6 certification in Australia went very well, the class wasn’t to large so we were able to get real specific when it came to the application of using our product with the specific sports the participants treated, coached, or participated in.

The class was hosted at CrossFit Effects (CFX), the owners of the gym were in the Special Forces for the Australian Army. Commander Steve was on the TV show the Biggest Loser in Australia. Their facility is awesome and they are really supporting Trigger Point Technologies and our efforts in Sydney.

Several therapists attended the class and all look forward to furthering their relationship with TPT. The awesome part about this was that none of them really knew much about us before attending the class, they were blown away by the effectiveness of the tools and the methodology.

I am really looking forward to our first RE-Gen class which takes place on Monday night, there are over 30 people signed up for the class so it should be exciting. This class is in Sydney and our next class on Friday is in Melbourne.

This is a very exciting time for TPT being that we are really extending our global reach and seeing incredible success. It’s a great feeling to get out of the car, see someone wearing the Trigger Point tee shirt and they feel compelled to come over, introduce themselves and say thank you for such an awesome product. There was one guy in particular that stopped his workout to say that he doesn’t travel with out our products and between the CrossFit training and the TPT tools, he now has a quality of life that he was afraid he’d never get back.

Kristian Manietta, has been the driving forces to get everything going in Australia and he is doing a great job. He is actually a triathlon coach that has been able to coach his wife in to winning Ironman Western Australia, she has one of the top 10 fastest ,women, Ironman finishes in the history of the sport. How awesome is it to have that kind of coach pushing your company in his native country.

Your TPT products are fantastic. I was a skeptic for a very long time and it took an injury, unfortunately, for me to try your products. The TPT products and education are awesome period! Because of my struggle with Lyme disease the TPT system is a necessity for me after each run in order to prepare me for my next run. My legs need tender love and care straight after each run. Running an ultra marathon requires careful preparation and the Footballer is my calf’s best friend.

Lyme disease does not discriminate, it can happen to any healthy individual just like it did to me. It has spread across the whole US. Lyme disease is an outdoor man’s and parents nightmare. I do tick checks on my kids every evening. Having had, possibly still having and having many friends who still suffer from this disease we are initially diagnosed with Fibromyalgia! There are similarities and we need to create research on every front and angle and start thinking outside the box. For more information on my cause please follow the link – One Mans Race 200 Miles for Lyme Disease Awareness.

New Race Time

21 05 2008

Jason A. Gustafson

I had a great race this weekend and I have TP Therapy to thank for helping me keep healthy. I finished 10th in my age group and 83rd overall in the 2008 running of the World’s Toughest Half in Auburn, CA. It was a half-iron distance race (1.2 mi swim, 56 mi bike, 13.1 mi run) with over 6000′ of climbing on the bike. Can’t say the run was a piece of pie but it was sure fun! I even bested my time from last year by 2 minutes. It would have been more if I hadn’t had some mechanical problems on the bike and some footing problems on the run but that’s all part of the experience. Now that I am done with that race, I am using my TP tools extensively to heal and recover so I can be back up and training again quickly.

Becoming a Believer

19 05 2008

I had doubts when I purchased the Trigger Point system. I was preparing to run in my first marathon at the age of 41, but after I had done my longest run of 14 miles, I thought I would never be able to run it because of severe pain that I developed. The next morning I woke up with the worst pain I have ever had in my right foot. For the next week, I was in such severe pain that I dreaded waking up and hitting the floor. I limped around for one week. I tried the sock device at night but it only seems to temporarily help. I bought the Trigger Point system for plantar fasciitis, and within less than one week, I noticed a difference. Since then I ran several training races, 20 miles, 30k, and this weekend I will be running the Cleveland Marathon. I have since become a believer in your system.
