One of the many races that Trigger Point helps sponsor was in full gear last weekend. The 3rd annual Du the Bear Duathlon had 400 participants with a 2 mile run, 12 mile bike and 2 mile run event. Set at Bear Creek Park in Houston, Texas, the event saw great Texas fall weather coupled with a record crowd! In fact, Du the Bear could rank as the largest duathlon in 2009 in the South Midwest Region of USA Triathlon.

Leah Stroud, with a time 1:03:55, took the women’s championship, while Lisa Tilton-McCarthy won the Female Master’s title in a time of 1:05:24. On the men’s side, Stephen Milford took the Men’s championship in a time of 55:34, while Shawn Smith won the Male Master’s title in a time of 57:56. Both winners received the weekend use of a BMW convertible, compliments of Momentum BMW. The Master’s winners received performance therapy kits from Trigger Point.

Also among the participants was several time Olympic gold medalist Laura Wilkinson.

The event also served as the culminating event in the Houston Duathlon Championship Series, a grouping of 3 top area duathlons, including the Webster Duathlon. Stephen Milford and Leah Stroud also took the championship titles for the series.

Chicago Marathon

17 10 2008

Trigger Point just returned from the Chicago Marathon where we met and worked with many great athletes. With a race that accommodates over 40,000 runners we were able to meet people from all different training backgrounds. They varied from the pro athlete to the everyday runner. Regardless their training many of them were having muscle pain. Some of the most common injuries we dealt with at the race expo were Plantar Fasciitis, shin splints, knee pain, IT Band syndrome, sciatica and back pain.   Because most of the runners were dealing with Plantar Fasciitis or other associated foot and ankle pain we were able use the Footballer and TP Massage Ball to treat their pain and get them running pain-free for the race. Having the ability to work directly with the athletes allows us to answer any questions they might have about why they have the pain and the best solution for treating it.

We want to congratulate all the runners that participated in the Chicago Marathon and look forward to seeing them again in 2009.

Trigger Point Goes To The Island

KellyAnne, from The Real World: Sydney, was seen using the TP Footballer on the new MTV reality show “The Island.” She was preparing herself for an upcoming challenge where she would be competing against two other women on the Island. KellyAnne had to hang between two wooden polls switching position when prompted until only one person was left hanging. Using the footballer beforehand allowed her to prepare her muscles for the challenge ahead by increasing her muscle elasticity and blood flow to the targeted areas. She won the competition and was rewarded with a key.
