It’s Official: New CrossFit gym at Trigger Point HQ!

31 10 2011

Trigger Point is excited about the newest addition to its Headquarters. CrossFit, combined with Trigger Point methodology makes this unique program perfect for anyone looking to take their fitness to the next level and reach their goals!

CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide. CrossFit delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general and inclusive. Crossfit’s specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.

On-Air: Cassidy Phillips Radio Interview!

26 10 2011

Cassidy Phillips is the CEO of Trigger Point Therapy and is a biomechanical specialist concentrating on sports performance, injury prevention and the muscular structure that supports the efforts of the body in motion. His objective is to recognize the biomechanical challenges of movement and actions of everyday life and marry them with the biomechanical inefficiencies recognized within patterns of movement defined by a sport of choice or through sedentary patterns of movement such as sitting, walking, and running.

Once told that he could never be an athlete again due to a muscular dysfunction called Fibromyalgia, it became his personal mission to understand muscular structure and the regeneration of dysfunctional muscle tissue. Instead of going through the traditional methods of schooling in fear that his out-of-the-box approach would be squashed, Phillips tackled countless hours of research to better understand the various methods of massage, chiropractic care, surgical procedures, and the treatment of traditional injuries in sport due to repetitive motion.

Phillips gained a solid foundation on Myofascial Release Techniques, a form of massage to address the muscle spindle and the associated dysfunction such as trigger points, adhesions, and other muscular challenges. This process also retrains the pattern of movement by opening up the neurological pathway allowing greater muscular proprioception.

After a long process of trial and error, he married his newly found education to his biomechanical background. The result is a line of patented products–called Trigger Point Technologies (TPT)–that mirror the feeling of the human hand.

Athletes and non-athletes from around the world have used Phillips and TPT products to implement the use of Myofascial release with the TPT tools with incredible and sometimes life-altering results. Listen more to learn about the power of Trigger Point Therapy!

Alyssa started racing mountain bikes in Oklahoma about 11 years ago.  She then spent the next 10 years in Dallas, TX racing in the Beginner and Sport class.  She did it mostly because she loved to ride, and she absolutely loved the social aspect of riding bikes.

“Running was not ever something I really wanted to do… but I loved to ride in the dirt, and I loved to swim… ” said Alyssa recently.  “So about 3 years ago I decided to give Xterra a shot. I was HOOKED! I love the fact that everyone has a strength… and it varies from course to course. This passion has also lead me to my dream career. I came to work for Orca/Orbea in January of this year in Little Rock, AR. It just doesn’t get any better than that!”

Alyssa continues to race  her mountain bike in Arkansas and am looking forward to a full racing season in 2012 for both Mountain biking and Xterra!  She’ll be representing Spokes Little Rock on her Orbea Alma 29er!  Read more about her racing and her trip to Xterra World Championships on her blog at: www.myxterrajourney.tumblr.com.

BEXRunner Sponsored Athlete to Race XTERRA World Championships this Weekend!

17 10 2011

5x World Champion Triathlete Conrad “The Caveman” Stoltz will not be empty-handed when he crosses the finish line at this year’s XTERRA World Championship in Maui. In fact, he’ll be holding his secret weapon – the BEX Runner – to close out the race.

The BEX Runner is a 3oz, reusable hand-held cooling device that removes heat from the body, improving performance and delaying fatigue. Conrad, who is at the front of the cooling strategy trend in the endurance realm, has been relying on the BEX Runner ever since he first used it at the XTERRA South West Championship, where he won a record-breaking 38th event.

“When racing in the red zone, keeping your body cool is critical to maximize performance,” Conrad said. “BEX Runner’s palm cooling technology is an outstanding method of keeping race pace temperature under control.”

“Fatigue is something every endurance athlete encounters and it is caused by the body’s struggle to remove heat. Eventually everyone slows down. ” Brett Warner, VP of Trigger Point Performance Cooling and developer of the BEX Runner said. “The BEX Runner improves the body’s ability to remove heat and is designed to delay fatigue.”

The BEX Runner is the premiere product in the Trigger Point Performance Cooling line, which launched in September. It is the first of many cooling devices to come. For more information, visit www.bexrunner.com.
